SECULAR STATE AND HINDU MLAs Recent controversy in Kerala politics over new devaswom ordinance of UDF government is unethical and unfortunate. Both leftist and centrist parties made legislations to control the devaswoms for their own interest. Today spirituality of temples declined due to politicization of its administration, mismanagement and corruption. Gods in our temples have now been made pawns in the political chess board. For healthy growth of a secular state, religious freedom with non –political interference in religious affairs is inevitable. The so called concept of Hindu MLAs and ministers is ironical to the principles of secularism. A decentralized administrative system with active participation of devotees is necessary requirement for the development of temples in Kerala.
